How the park came to be
Mukundra Hills was notified as a tiger reserve in 2013, combining the Darrah and Jawahar Sagar sanctuaries with part of the National Chambal Sanctuary. The name comes from the Mukundra range, two parallel hills that run through the reserve.
Darrah was a royal hunting preserve of the Kota rulers. Tigers have been reintroduced from Ranthambore as part of efforts to build a connected tiger landscape in Rajasthan.
